These champion farmers still practice traditional farming methods – rearing their cattle in wide open spaces on a natural diet of fresh green grass and ensuring their cattle are healthy, relaxed and have plenty of space to live the life that nature intended. The result is magically tender meat marinated in respect!
We work hard with our Gourmet farmers to ensure that there is an open and reciprocal relationship. We give them the resources to produce the correct specification of cattle for our customer base. We have a dedicated producer website and regularly communicate through newsletters, competitions, email alerts and sms messaging. In addition, we have open days for producers when they can observe our process flows and effectively ‘walk the line’.
A number of agricultural initiatives have also been undertaken to engender a sustainable relationship with our producers. Through an IT system we generate a series of reports designed to augment producer awareness of the need to hit specification targets. These reports cover areas such as fat cover, conformation and weight. We also give our Gourmet producers nutritional advice through an independent source and expert in the field of animal nutrition and health.
The relationship with our Foyle Gourmet producers is essentially all about sustainability – sustainability in farming and sustainability in beef production. And for this very reason, our Foyle Gourmet beef has been awarded the Brio Environmental seal of approval. For more information, click here.
